Salvation
GOD'S PLAN OF SALVATION
What must you do to be lost?
Nothing.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to
condemn the world; but that the
world through him might be saved.
He that believeth on him is not condemned:
but he that believeth not is condemned already,
because he hath not believed in the name of the only
begotten Son of God. (John 3:16-18)
What must you do to be saved?
Believe in Jesus.
Confess Him as Lord.
"If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord
Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God
hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt
be saved." (Romans 10:9)
HOW
TO BE SAVED--AND ENJOY IT!
(Sad
Christians are disobedient Christians.)
Admit
you are a sinner--everyone
is--and ask God's forgiveness.
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
(Romans 3:23)
Sin
is failing to do what God wants, whether by rebellion or through
ignorance.
Believe
in ONLY Jesus to save you.
"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none
other name under heaven... whereby we must be saved." (Acts
4:12)
There is nothing we can do to be saved, other than accept what
Jesus has already done in dying on the cross to pay for our
sins.
Confess
Jesus as Savior and Lord.
"If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord
Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him
from the dead, thou shalt be saved." (Romans 10:9)
There are no secret disciples. Believing alone is not enough. We
must confess Him to others.
Dig
into God's Word,
the Bible.
"Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put
their trust in him." (Proverbs 30:5)
The
Bible is full of treasure, telling us all we need to know for
life and godliness. It is truly a living
Word. God speaks to us through it, specifically addressing
questions in our daily lives. If you will read it to get to know
God's heart and His plan for your life, you'll never be bored
with it!
Enjoy
God's blessings for those who obey.
"Behold, I set before you this day a curse and a blessing; A
blessing, if ye obey the commandments of your God... and a curse
if ye will not obey the commandments of the Lord your God.
(Deuteronomy 11:26-28)
When
we obey what we do understand in the Bible, God
reveals more to us as we need it. He promises to meet our every
need as long as we are obeying Him.
Follow
Jesus in baptism.
"And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the
water: and, lo, ...a voice from heaven, saying, 'This is my
beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased....'" (Matthew 3:16-17)
Baptism does not save us; but it is our first act of obedience
after we commit our lives to Jesus. If we are truly saved, we
want to be baptized to show it.
Baptism is the outward expression of our inward change,
signifying that we are His followers.
"Therefore
we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as
Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father,
even so we also should walk in newness of life." (Romans 6:4)
Give
at least a tithe (10%)
of
all your income to the Lord, in the local church.
"Bring
ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in
mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts,
if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a
blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it."
(Malachi 3:10)
God
doesn't need our money. But we need to give it, in order to show
our obedience to Him and our faith in Him. He will amaze you by
stretching your 9/10 farther than you can ever stretch the 100%!
Hear
[and do!] the words of Jesus.
Jesus said, "...My mother and my brethren are these which hear
the word of God, and do it." (Luke 8:21)
Lip-service is not enough. We must do His will. And He
never steers us in the wrong direction.
Enjoy!!
