Middle Ga. College
IN BLACK AND WHITE
TODAY BY KNIGHT
July 16, 2006
Jimmy may have an opportunity to be a dorm director at Middle
Georgia College. We want to minister to young people, so we are
interested. But I want God to confirm His will for us in a
concrete way. Jimmy is to talk with them tomorrow.
The
past few years, God honors my need for confirmation by answering
major questions through His Word. To not subconsciously find the
answer I want, I look wherever I left off in "reading/writing
through the Bible" to see what He says. Currently I am in
Leviticus, not a likely place to find whether we should move
into a college dorm. Nevertheless I seek.
This
morning, Andrew Knight, our interim pastor's young protegé who
works with Campus Outreach in Minnesota, preached on Luke
10:25-34, The Good Samaritan.
He [Jesus] said unto him [a lawyer], What is
written in the law? how readest thou?
And he [the lawyer] answering said, Thou
shalt love the Lord thy God
with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and
with all thy strength,
and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as
thyself.
And he [Jesus] said unto him, Thou hast answered
right: this do, and
thou shalt live.
But he, willing to justify himself, said unto
Jesus, And who is my neighbour?
(Luke 10:26-29)
After the early service, Jimmy and I told Andrew about our
tentative plans to move onto campus as "dorm parents." He was
excited about our potential ministry! I felt he was our
confirmation. Andrew said the oldest person he knows who lives
in a dorm is sixty-five years old. I told him we are fifty-five.
He grinned, indicating that we would be the second oldest.
In
the second service, again hearing his sermon--I'm a little slow
sometimes--I realized that God had confirmed it to me
through Scripture early this morning, in Leviticus!
But
the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as
one born among you,
and thou shalt love him as thyself; for
ye were strangers in the land of Egypt:
I am the LORD your God. (Leviticus 19:34)
College was definitely an "Egypt" experience for me. I would
love to have had a mentor living in the dorm during my college
days, to set a godly example and love me in my parents' absence.
So,
thank You, Father, for confirming Your will for us in black and
white today through Andrew Knight.

Mr.
Charles Mullis officially offered Jimmy the job this morning,
and he accepted. Thank You, Father, for the KNOWLEDGE
that this is within Your will!
