Go
Tell John
GO TELL
JOHN
[Matthew 11:2-6]
Words &
Music by Glenda H. Davis
The Holy Spirit John had seen
descending like a dove,
And resting on the Son of God
while God spoke from above;
But when he was in prison,
even John began to doubt;
"If Jesus is the Son of God,
why does He not get me out?!"
So John sent two disciples to
settle this debate:
"Go ask Jesus if He is the
One that we await."
So John's disciples went to
Him and asked God's Only Son,
"Are you the Messiah, or
should we look for another One?"
Jesus could have been upset
that John would dare to doubt;
But instead He healed the
blind, and He cast some demons out;
He made the lepers whole
again, and He made the sick ones well;
Then He turned to John's
disciples and said to them, "Now,
go tell...
"Go tell
John what you've heard, go tell John what you've seen:
"The
deaf hear, the blind see, the lame walk, and lepers are clean,
"The
dead are raised, and to the poor the gospel is preached.
"Go tell
John what you've heard; go tell John what you've seen."
If John the Baptist had his
doubts, what about you and me?
If we know the Son of God,
the One who sets us free,
Does that mean that we will
never have another doubt?
If we do, let's open up the
Word of God and check it out.
"Go tell
John what you've heard, go tell John what you've seen:
"The
deaf hear, the blind see, the lame walk, and lepers are clean,
"The
dead are raised, and to the poor the gospel is preached.
"Go tell
John what you've heard; go tell John what you've seen:
The deaf
hear, the blind see, the lame walk, and lepers are clean,
"The
dead are raised, and to the poor the gospel is preached.
"Go tell
John what you've heard; go tell John what you've seen."
